About six months ago I found that my IP address was blocked on wikipedia. I tried to appeal it but they said I had to e-mail them and I did but I never got a response. I just let the block run-out because it was short and I didn't feel like spending my time trying to get it un-done.

Then tonight I go on wikipedia and find that I cannot edit pages again. To top it all off I can't put the appeal thing in my user talk page because I have been blocked from editing that too. Any advice? I e-mailed the blocking admin and the other people they said to. I would appreciate anything, but if you could put it in lamens terms that would help, as I' not really a computer person and I'm not really involved with wikipedia.

I recommend you create a Wikipedia account for yourself because IP addresses tend to be shared in certain countries. Having an account will enable you to access Wikipedia to its fullest even if someone has abused your IP address.

Yes, you're definitely better off creating an account. I hate to say it, but if you're using an IP address being blocked for vandalism, it's going to be much harder for people to trust your edits, even though you didn't make the bad edits.

If you create an account (which is very easy to do), your contributions, and only yours, will all be listed under that name. It will also be easier for you to keep track of what you've done, and you can make a watchlist of pages, which is good if you want to see if someone else has changed a page that interests you.

Actually, even making your own accont won't prevent people to block you. I just had one, after contributing withount registering, and I found some problems all the same. First of all, my work gets deleted even though I'm perfectly sure of the info, and even though I do not violate any copywright.
Second, I can't easily access to it: I must always go to my e-mail box and click on the link, otherwise my account is not recognised.

I don't know if I made something wrong, bt there's just ONE way to register and I thought anybody could give a free contribute to wiipedia...
Can someone reply to me? (If it's clear..)

"First of all, my work gets deleted even though I'm perfectly sure of the info". Jus because you are sure about it doesnt mean other people know it. Always have a source!

Thanks for replying. anyway, I had the source, and it was official already (on the band official website). Since I fixed the problem, I think it was just a matter of connection, info refreshing and so on. :)

Wikipedia is administered by a bunch of commies. These geeks are such self-righteous arrogant pricks it is unbelieveable. I was banned for 24 hours, but then when I got in an edit war with a couple of IB zealots, the administrator went completely AWOL.

I had an article I wrote about an NPR reported deleted, and article I wrote about a long term female artists in an established arts collective deleted and several articles on WWII deleted.

Yet there are about 1,000 articles for female porn stars. Go to Wikipedia and type a name of any porn star you have heard of, they are ALL in there. Few even have warning about accuracy or style. Try female movie star who have had their bodies altered.

Now type feminist theorists, female journalists, female University researchers, its very rare for one to have a site.

Somehow the admins have only made it even worse than it would have been without them. I don't know how they managed to keep out thousands of women making positive contributions to the construction of knowledge and policy and yet keep in every woman who has filmed and distributed a sex act for profit, and yet they have.

Its kind of a disturbing accomplishment on the part of Wiki admins.

From my own experience, WITH AN ACCOUNT, I found the Wiki admins to be radical male geek nerds imposing their world of Star Trek, Porn, and gadgets on what was suppose to represent the sum total of human knowledge leaving Wikipedia a sad pathetic proof that Web 2.0 can replace established patterns of knowledge construction.
